Seeking mental health support should always be encouraged! Taking that first step toward your well-being can be difficult but is a liberating experience.

In an increasingly diverse and busy world, people may feel unable or lack the tools to reach out for help.

I provide personalized support for each individual according to their strengths and needs through a collaborative and integrative approach.

Using a culturally responsive and socially just lens, I provide an open and welcoming space where individuals feel empowered to express themselves irrespective of social and cultural labels and work towards living their desired lives.

Experience:

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I am currently working towards completing my practicum at Yorkville University. I completed my undergraduate studies in Sociology, which aids in supplementing my understanding of socioeconomic factors that affect individual lives, including how these factors intersect various identities. Over the last five years, I have worked closely with families to provide academic, emotional and social support and as a crisis responder to give immediate response to individuals dealing with various mental health challenges like anxiety, depression and relational issues.

Client Focus: Adults and teens

Types of therapy: SFT, EFT, Attachment Focused Approach, CBT

Issues:

Anxiety, Depression, Family Conflict, Peer Relationships, Burnout, Self-Esteem, Behaviour Management, Acculturation Issues (feelings of displacement after immigration)

‘Be yourself; everyone else is already taken’ -Oscar Wilde

More than just my work:

  1. I am an avid reader and a book nerd.

Life can be like a hot cup of coffee: sometimes, we have the right amount in our favourite cup at just the right temperature. Other times, there is too much or too little or not quite the right combination of ingredients, and we crave a change in order to get to what feels right.

If you’d like help to change, counselling can be a good place to start.

I help people explore their current situation by looking at their goals and preferred future. A person’s culture, family, medical circumstances, work environment, and home life are among the elements that can affect well-being.

I offer a safe, friendly, non-judgmental, and comfortable counselling experience. I know that connection and collaboration are essential, and so together, we will work at your pace.

Mandy is completing her master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (2024) and has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from McMaster (1991). For over a decade, she has been working with children and families in private practice. She helps kids who have a tricky time at school with behaviour or learning by teaching self-regulation through biofeedback and breathing skills.

Having five kids of her own ( including a set of twins) has taught her many valuable lessons about self-care, being present, and the danger of Lego underfoot in the dark. Her kids are now in their 20s, and Mandy’s experience has shown her that supporting adults is a wonderful way to help families. She has been teaching fitness classes as a hobby for twenty years and believes in the power of strength that comes from within.

Client focus: Parents, individuals, teens

Becoming a parent can be an odyssey of sleepless nights, responsibility, and work for which there is no manual. A supportive community can be the difference when stepping into this role of a lifetime.

“The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.” William Wallace
