Understanding Grief

Grief is a natural response to loss, but it can feel overwhelming and isolating. Whether caused by the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, or even an identity, grief manifests in many ways—emotional, physical, and mental. People may experience sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, or even numbness. These emotions are all part of the healing process, but navigating grief alone can be challenging.

Pregnancy loss is a profound and often invisible form of grief. Whether it happened recently or years ago, whether others knew or not, the emotional impact can be overwhelming and long-lasting. Many people are surprised by the intensity of their feelings—or by the silence that follows such a life-altering experience.

You may be navigating:

  • Sadness, shock, or numbness

  • Guilt, shame, or confusion

  • Anger at your body or at others

  • Isolation from people who “don’t understand”

  • Disrupted relationships or difficulty coping with others' pregnancies

  • Anxiety about the future or decisions about trying again

This type of grief is not only about losing a pregnancy—it’s also about losing hopes, identities, timelines, and the sense of safety you may have once felt in your body or your life.

Pregnancy loss deserves care, attention, and compassion. You don’t have to carry it alone.
